The MAPC offers assault prevention workshops for adolescents and adults with an intellectual disability. These groups can be a mix of boys and girls, men and women of different ages. Organisations may choose from workshops of two, four or eight sessions.

Introduction to the three rights (safe, strong, and free), adult support, peer support, assertiveness.
Two 60-minute sessions with teacher present
Peer assault (bullying), assault by a stranger, assault by a known adult.

The Assault Prevention Program for people with an intellectual disabilitiy was created by the Montreal Assault Prevention Centre (MAPC) in 1989 following a request from the West Island Rehabilitation Center.
A workshop is offered to parents, guardians and caregivers. This information session includes a description of the workshops and our approach to prevention.
The program is an adaptation of the workshops offered by the MAPC to women and children.
The teacher stays in the classroom during the workshop.
