The Montreal Assault Prevention Centre is launching a new project. The goal of the project is to offer the ACTION self-defense workshop to women living in shelters. If you would like more information, please contact Sofia Rodriguez at action@cpamapc.org or call (514) 284-1212.
Thanks to grants from Status of Women Canada, from the Foundation of Greater Montreal and from the Epiderma Foundation, the ACTION team made the “diversity in ACTION” project a reality. After a research project into barriers to certain women’s participation in the ACTION courses, animators offered an adapted version of the course to 262 women from diverse communities. Furthermore, five women of various origins were trained to become ACTION instructors during this time. Our objective was to ensure that ACTION (and all programs at the Centre) are accessible to all women, in an environment that is free of all discrimination. Although the grants are finished now, we will continue this work.
